This is quite an a old song, written and recorded by Joe South in the late ’60s. It has interesting words, a good clear rhythm and only 3 chords: A, D, and E, so it’s easy to play on guitar, though you need to listen to the recording (it’s on Youtube here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5znh58WITU8 ) to pick up the timing of the words.
It’s trickier on ukulele, but if you wanted to sing a bit higher you could play C, F and G chords instead of A, D, and E.
